What am I doing right now?

Watching “Signs” with the cousin. Now, I love this movie, like a lot. I saw it three times in theaters after all. But I can’t help but laugh at some aspects of it. Yeah, Mel. Board up your windows, that’ll keep the aliens out. They can build spaceships with invisible shields but wood is too advanced of a mechanism for them to overcome. And really, they can’t bust down the basement door? Hmm…come on, M. Night.

Anyway, being sick is a drag. Especially when it lingers for a week. And that’s all I have to say about that.

This is the first time in my life that I’ve actually felt different as the clock struck midnight and a new year was upon us. I can’t really express how amazing I feel right now, especially considering how completely opposite I felt just a few months ago. Sometimes life has a way of deceiving you into believing that the world is crumbling beneath your feet when really, everything is truly working out for the best.

Lovin’ life right now. I can’t wait to see what 2011 has in store for me.

21 days after that, I’ll be visiting Las Vegas for the first time.

10 minutes after that, I’ll be blacked out and gambling away all of my hard-earned money.

I can’t wait.

As of right now, it looks like it will be me, Brian, Sean, Palmi, and Jordan road-tripping it down to Nevada, where we will enjoy a 8-day, 7-night stay at the glorious Hilton Grand Vacations Suites on the Las Vegas Strip Hotel. Gotta love best friends with timeshares. Originally we were going to fly, but $250ish a piece compared to a little more than $300 total by car? I think I’ll take that extra cash to blow on 21 and booze, thank you very much.

I have a feeling that only bad things can come from the experience that lies ahead. Probably not as drastic as “The Hangover” but just about… Oh well, I still can’t wait. Vegas, baby!

I’ve never been there before, so if you have any tips on what I should do while I’m there (besides get incredibly drunk and gamble away my savings), let me know in a comment!

First things first, I love John Mayer as much as the next middle-aged woman. In fact, I’d say he’s one of my top guilty pleasures. If his voice was a woman, I would — let me stop myself there.

But let’s face it, the guy is kind of a douche. I know there are plenty of rumors about his doucheness, especially when it comes to the women he’s dated, but set those aside and take a look at some of his lyrics.

For example, today while I was listening to “Daughters” (I told you he’s my guilty pleasure, fuck off), a few lyrics stood out to me:

But she’s just like a maze,
Where all of the walls all continually change.
And I’ve done all I can,
To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands.
Now I’m starting to see,
Maybe it’s got nothing to do with me.

So let me get this straight. Mayer talks about how confusing this girl is and about her emotional problems and then blames it all on her parents. Hmm… Maybe, just maybe, he is the one who fucked this girl up. Or maybe it was other guys like him. I love how he just shifts the blame to her mother and father, as if there’s no way John Mayer could ever do any wrong to a lady.

I guess he’s right, though. I mean after all, he’s bigger than his body gives him credit for.
